Recognition as one of the Top 50 Global Neurodiversity Evangelists 2023

Recognized by ND by Design, powered by Dynamis Group

What an honor!!!

Many thanks to Theo Smith from ND by Design, powered by Dynamis, for honoring me alongside an incredible group of influencers and change makers!

No words can adequately describe how grateful I am!

When I awoke after major brain surgery about ten years ago, I realized that I was beginning a completely new and unexpected journey. I went from being a turbo-charged fireball to trying to figure out how to walk, talk, and navigate my newly neurodivergent and sensory-scrambled brain and body. It was indescribably challenging- but at the same time, fascinating.

Within a short period of time, I realized that I had also been given a unique gift. Suddenly, I was experiencing firsthand the types of experiences I had observed for many years as both a professional and parent of our autistic son and other neurodivergent children.

As an observant Jew, I believe everything that happens to us is guided from Above to help us fulfill our unique mission on earth. I realized that my mission had become clear- to share the valuable insights I had gained from these experiences to help facilitate understanding and raise awareness about neurodiversity.

It took me eight years of healing and pondering to figure out how to fulfill this mission- and then I decided to write a book about my journey- “Moving Forward: Reflections on Autism, Neurodiversity, Brain Surgery, and Faith.” Shortly afterward, I launched my blog on jackisbooks.com

It’s been two years since publication and they have been an incredible learning experience. I have l been blessed to link up with many wonderful and devoted people who leading a global initiative to make the world a better, more inclusive place.

I feel deeply honored and privileged to be a part of this movement, and am looking forward to collaborating with other ND evangelists from the UK and around the world.

Check out the following two links to see whom Theo and ND by Design have chosen as this year’s evangelists. I’m certain this is just the beginning, and believe these lists will continue to grow immensely:

Can Sensory Sensitivities Be Reduced Through Exposure?

This week’s post examines sensory processing and overload and seeks to answer the question: Is it possible to help people become less sensitive to sensory stimuli by gradually exposing them to them while in a completely safe environment, working with someone they trust?
